"Here we go!" - Emily Watson, Punch Drunk Love

Hello friend.

Sarah and I have decided to launch a Blogspot for the purpose of keeping a public chronicle of this big transition of our lives: ending our Portland experience and beginning Boston-life. Personally, I had to overcome my absolute hatred for MySpace. Although MySpace and Blogspot are different, they are similar in the sense that I get to control many of the factors that you perceive about me right now. This is quite different from dreaded real life, where my fly might be down and my beard would most definately be thin. My voice would crack and I would probably maintain eye contact some of the time. I really think MySpace is destroying our generation. [End Soapbox]

You and I must always remember our purpose here which is to help maintain long-distance friendships via news and pictures. Please keep in touch through e-mail or phone or hanging out while we are around. We love so many people and want to maintain contact in all ways, even if that means through Blogspot. And I've always wanted to say "I just blogged in the other room" and have it be true.

Oh, and we are open to recommendations about how to make this thing prettier. We like pretty. And we may be a bit inept at blogging for awhile. Teach us. Thanks for loving us and check back to stay informed on our lives and leave comments and share some e-love.

Congratulation on getting acceptance to the college of your choice. I am very exciting for both of you on your new journey to life outside of Oregon. Hopefully I can visit you and Sarah during my trip to New York in Sept.

Dude! Step one - you need to include pictures in your blog. You can find them at lots of places on the internet - google images for instance. Posting them might violate some copyright stuff, but the aesthetic payoff is well worth it. Step two - get links to your site on blogs as cool as Loretta's Basement. I'm stoked to see you giving up your preferences for a greater good, which is my opportunity to leave comments about you and Sarah's journey. Oh jeez, I miss y'all already.

Good work.

I think starting a blogging trail, as you make your way to Boston, is a great idea. At least, you can follow your posts back to Portland if you get lost on the way. Just make sure the forest critters don't eat them. No one needs to be reminded of what happened to Hansel and Gretel.
