Over the MLK holiday weekend, Sarah and I went into Boston and made use of the $500 gift card for the Taj Hotel (the first Ritz Carlton in Boston), which Sarah's boss gave to her for Christmas. It was such an expensive hotel that we spent the whole thing on the room, parking, and dinner and drinks in the bar. We spent some time doing minimal shopping on Newbury Street (a cross between Portland's 23rd Street and the Pearl) and exploring Chinatown.
Although we got to pamper ourselves in luxury we never see in our day-to-day experience, we both realized how empty the "living large" lifestyle truly is. We overheard sad discussions between couples and parents with their children. We felt the "you're here to suit my needs" mentality given to staff. We even tasted the temptation of craving more and more things. How deceptive that lifestyle is, and although it was nice to drink expensive drinks and have valet parking, we are happy that it was a one-time experience.

How fun for you! But, I agree, I think it would take all the fun out of it it were normal. Please tell your wife she is most lovely!
Love you both,
Sarah
My Sarah looks so pretty!! I bet she looks even prettier in person (if that's possible)!
