Last Monday, I had my very first accident and cat scan all in one day! Don't worry: my noggin and its surrounding members are okay. Alas, the car we so lovingly came to term "Mass-Subie" is no more. It goes something like this... Sarah and I awoke to our first snowy, frosty New England morning. It was absolutely gorgeous. Growing up in Colorado, I'm used to snow-covered landscapes... but something about a frosty New England is just picturesque. Sarah and I hummed Christmas tunes as I dropped her off at the train station. Driving back, on a stretch very close to campus, an on-coming SUV started drifting into my lane with its driver side facing me. I braked, swerved. To no avail. The front driver side of our car plowed into the rear passenger side of the SUV.
For those of you who have been in an accident, you understand: the impact is very scary. I don't know why, but my immediate response was to jump out of the car (I even left the car running). Everyone in the other car was okay. The wife is pregnant, though, so she stayed motionless until the police and ambulance came. They couldn't get to her well because the car was nestled against a wall, so they had to use the "jaws of life" to get her out. We all rode to the hospital to get checked out. Again, I'm okay -- just the standard neck pains from the impact.
Right now we're juggling all the insurance stuff and accident reports, while doing finals and final papers, Christmas parties with work, car shopping, Christmas shopping, and figuring out my educational plan. A little chaotic. Your prayers are coveted. But the Lord has really been good to us... but perhaps our little Subaru felt a tinge of his wrath:
